Driving roundabouts correctly: indicating, priority, exiting
1 min read · Updated on October 17, 2026
Roundabouts keep traffic flowing – but many people are unsure when to indicate and who has priority. Here are the rules at a glance.

Priority in the roundabout
If the roundabout has the blue roundabout sign and a “give way” sign, traffic in the circle has priority. So you wait until there’s a gap.
Indicating
You don’t indicate when entering. When exiting you indicate right – so waiting drivers know they can go.
Typical mistakes
These mistakes happen especially often:
- Indicating left when entering
- Stopping in the circle
- Exiting without indicating
- Overlooking cyclists and pedestrians at the exit
