Learn German road signs the fun way
1 min read · Updated on October 17, 2026
Memorising signs is boring – experiencing them in traffic makes it much easier. In Driving School Germany you’ll come across more than 70 real German road signs, and every new sign earns XP in your sign album.
The most important groups
Road signs can be roughly divided into five groups:
- Warning signs (triangle with red border) warn of bends, children or roadworks
- Priority signs decide who may go first – e.g. stop or priority road
- Regulatory signs (mostly round) set orders and prohibitions, such as speed limits
- Guide signs (mostly blue) give information, e.g. about one-way streets or the motorway
- Supplementary signs add to a sign, for example with a time or distance
The fastest way to learn
First remember the shape, then the colour, then the symbol. Then test yourself right away: the sign quiz gives you 10 random signs with 4 answers – and you instantly see whether you were right.
